DA to Offer P20/Kilo Rice for OFWs and Their Families

The Department of Agriculture (DA), in collaboration with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), will begin offering rice at P20 per kilo exclusively for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families. This will be made available through the Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlet located at the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City.

This initiative fulfills President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s promise to deliver affordable, high-quality food to Filipino families while ensuring that local rice farmers are fairly compensated.

“Our President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., recognizes the invaluable contributions of our OFWs—our modern-day heroes—to our vision of a Bagong Pilipinas,” said DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac. “This program reflects the government’s commitment to make affordable rice accessible not only to Filipino households but also to OFWs and their loved ones.”

Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a flagship initiative of the Marcos administration, spearheaded by the DA, that aims to link consumers to affordable and high-quality food products while supporting local producers, farmers, and small enterprises.

Consumers are reminded to follow purchasing guidelines to ensure the program benefits as many families as possible, in line with the inclusive development goals of Bagong Pilipinas.

In addition to the affordable rice program, the DMW and DA are also working together to support OFWs interested in agribusiness. This includes providing technical training and resources through the National Reintegration Program, helping OFWs and their families build sustainable agricultural ventures.

“Agriculture presents a valuable business and investment opportunity for OFWs,” added Secretary Cacdac. “Through this partnership, we are promoting agribusiness as a viable path for reintegration and long-term livelihood.”
