Breaking News : Ilongga OFW Found Dead.

Abu Dhabi, UAE — An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Iloilo City was tragically found dead in her living quarters in Abu Dhabi, prompting her family to appeal for support as they work to bring her remains home to the Philippines.

According to initial reports, the deceased has been identified as Mary Jill Dela Cerna Muya, a 44-year-old resident of Barangay Cubay, Jaro district in Iloilo City. Family members discovered her lifeless body inside her accommodation in Abu Dhabi, though details surrounding the exact circumstances of her death remain unclear at this time.

In social media posts circulated by relatives and community supporters, it was indicated that the family has received disturbing photos that they believe show Mary Jill in distress prior to her passing, including alleged images suggesting self-harm. These disturbing images have fueled the family’s urgency to seek help from both local and Philippine authorities in the UAE to determine what truly happened.

At present, official statements from the Philippine Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, the UAE authorities, or Philippine government agencies such as the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) have not yet been released to the public. The absence of confirmed investigative findings means that the cause of death — whether accidental, self-inflicted, or otherwise — has not been officially established.

The grieving family has taken to social media and community networks to appeal for assistance, particularly in securing consular and logistical support for the repatriation of Mary Jill’s remains to the Philippines. Repatriation in cases like this typically involves coordination with both the Philippine Embassy and local UAE authorities, including processing of the death certificate and necessary travel documentation for the deceased.

The broader Filipino community in the UAE and concerned citizens have expressed sympathy and support for the family as they await clearer details and await cooperation from government agencies to ensure that Mary Jill is brought home with dignity.
