General Administration of Customs has introduced a new electronic service via the Sahel App requiring travelers to declare cash amounts exceeding KD 3,000—or its equivalent in foreign currency—when entering or leaving Kuwait through any customs port or airport.
Under the new system, passengers can submit their cash declarations digitally before or upon travel. Once completed, an electronic declaration notice is automatically generated within the app, which can then be verified by customs officers at the relevant port of entry or exit.
Officials say the move is designed to streamline procedures, reduce paperwork, and ensure full compliance with Kuwait’s financial and customs regulations. By shifting the process online, authorities aim to enhance transparency while making travel procedures faster and more efficient.
The initiative forms part of Kuwait Customs’ broader strategy to expand digital services and modernize operations across border checkpoints, reinforcing regulatory oversight while improving the overall traveler experience.
