A new case involving an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) has surfaced in Saudi Arabia, raising concerns among migrant communities in the Middle East. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed that a Filipino worker was recently arrested for allegedly posting videos of airstrikes on social media.
According to DMW Undersecretary Bernard Olalia, the OFW has already reached out to Philippine authorities seeking assistance following the arrest. Details about the individual’s identity and exact location have not yet been disclosed.
This incident adds to earlier reports of Filipinos being detained in the United Arab Emirates over similar allegations involving online content related to sensitive security matters.

The DMW assured the public that the Philippine government is actively extending support to all affected OFWs. This includes providing legal assistance, coordinating with host country authorities, and ensuring the welfare of detained Filipinos in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Authorities also reminded overseas Filipinos to exercise caution when posting on social media, particularly content that may be considered sensitive or related to national security in their host countries. Laws governing online activity in the Middle East are strict, and violations—even if unintentional—can lead to serious legal consequences.
The DMW continues to monitor the situation closely and urges OFWs to stay informed, follow local regulations, and seek guidance from Philippine embassies when in doubt.
