A large majority of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were repatriated from the Middle East still aim to return abroad for work, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac revealed that based on entry survey data, 84% of returning OFWs expressed their intention to seek overseas employment again. Of this number, around half may be able to return to their previous employers, as many still hold valid work visas.
The government is expected to assist these workers by facilitating their clearance processes, allowing them to resume employment abroad more smoothly.
For those who prefer new opportunities, the DMW has prepared around 200,000 job orders across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, offering alternative pathways for OFWs affected by regional tensions.
The data highlights the continued demand for overseas employment among Filipinos despite ongoing global uncertainties.
