Exemptions On Payment Rent Under The Current Situation Suggested in Kuwait

Exemption of rent payment suggested in Kuwait.

As the number of expats and Kuwaiti nationals losing jobs and getting home quarantined due to COVID-19, MP Majid Al-Mutairi suggested on real estate owners and homes to exempt rents on tenants considering the current circumstances.

“In light of the exceptional circumstances we live in due to the repercussions of the Coronavirus, we hope that the kindhearted people from the owners of real estate, buildings and homes stand with our bedoun brothers and exempt the tenants from paying the rent,” says Al-Mutairi.

As of March 20, it is reported that eleven new cases of COVID-19 were added within the past 24 hours. The total number of infected individuals is raised to 159, says the Health Ministry in Kuwait.

The new cases were from UK Switzerland, Lebanon and others are Kuwaiti nationals. According to Health Ministry Spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there are already 27 patients who recovered and 137 are already receiving proper treatment. Though there are five individuals in the ICU, there are no reported deaths in the country.
