The Kuwait Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Khaled Al-Omara, has handed down a death sentence to a Filipino domestic worker found guilty of murdering a young Kuwaiti boy.
The tragic incident occurred in late December at the family’s residence in Sabah Al-Salem. According to case details, the parents lost track of their two-year-old son until the father discovered that the laundry room door on the rooftop was locked. Upon forcing it open, he was horrified to find his child lying motionless inside a washing machine. The boy was rushed to the hospital, but medical staff confirmed he had already died.

During earlier hearings, the defendant denied the charge, claiming she had merely discovered the child drowned in a bucket of water. However, after reviewing the evidence, witness testimonies, and the findings of the Public Prosecution, the court rejected her defense.
The Public Prosecution had strongly pushed for the maximum penalty, describing the crime as deliberate and premeditated. Prosecutors argued that such a heinous act warranted the death penalty—not only as justice for the victim but also as a deterrent to protect society and uphold public safety.
The court’s ruling has brought closure to a case that shocked Kuwait and stirred widespread public outrage.
