A brother and sister from Toronto have become instant multi-millionaires after winning a historic CAD 75 million Lotto Max jackpot, equivalent to around ₱3.2 billion.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation identified the winners as Jonathan R. and Mylene P., saying they are the first brother-sister duo to win a major lottery jackpot with OLG. Their winning ticket came from the March 3, 2026 Lotto Max draw and was purchased at Drewry’s Variety in North York.
According to OLG, the siblings had been playing the lottery together for nearly two years, using numbers that held special meaning for their family.
Jonathan said he first checked the ticket through the OLG app early in the morning and initially thought they had won CAD 75,000. After putting on his glasses, he realized there were more zeroes — and the prize was actually CAD 75 million.
Mylene also thought the amount was smaller at first until Jonathan told her to count the zeroes. She said she cried tears of joy after realizing their lives had changed forever.
The siblings said they moved to Canada for a better life and now plan to use the money to support their parents, spouses, and children. Jonathan said his children’s education will be paid for and that he hopes to build a large family home where future generations can benefit from the windfall.
He also shared plans to build a small chapel in his hometown as part of his legacy of helping others.
Mylene, who said she once made a living cleaning beautiful homes, expressed joy that she can now build and care for her own dream home. The siblings also plan to travel, including trips across Canada and to countries such as Germany, Austria, and Japan.
While several online discussions have asked whether the winners are Filipinos, OLG’s official announcement did not state their nationality or ethnicity. However, their names, migration story, and reference to building a chapel in their hometown have led many Filipino community pages and readers to believe they may be Filipino immigrants.
For now, what is confirmed is that Jonathan R. and Mylene P. are Toronto-based siblings who made lottery history with one of Canada’s biggest jackpot wins.
