Lyca Kampeon sa The Voice Kids Philippines Darren Pumapangalawa lang!

‘Little Superstar’ Lyca Gairanod was named first-ever grand champion of ABS-CBN’s hit singing competition ‘The Voice Kids’ Philippines on the grand finals night held on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Newport Performing Arts, Theater, Resorts World Manila, Newport City, Pasay City.

The 9-year old kid from Tanza, Cavite received P1 million, a one-year recording contract from MCA Universal, house and lot, a home appliance showcase, a musical instrument showcase, and P1 million worth of trust fund.

After months of auditions and weekly battles, Team Sarah’s Lyca Gairanod beat her three rivals to emerge grand champion of ABS-CBN’s talent search “The Voice Kids” during the final sing-off at Resorts World Manila on Sunday, July 27.
The nine-year-old girl from Cavite impressed the public and earned the highest number of votes with her version of “Basang-basa sa Ulan” with her favorite band Aegis.
Lyca’s victory is a big help to her and family, for whom she and her mother would go scavenging to survive.
Lyca won P1 million, a one-year recording contract from MCA Universal, house and lot, a home appliance showcase, a musical instrument showcase, and a trust fund worth P1 million.
The top four finalists took on three challenges during the two-night finale, when they rendered upbeat songs and power ballads and performed with special guests.
Team Sarah’s Darren Espanto, who placed second, performed “You Are My Song” with Martin Nievera. Third placer Juan Karlos Labajo from team Bamboo rendered “Eto na Naman” with Gary Valenciano; while fourth placer Darlene Vibares from Team Lea sang “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” with Lani Misalucha.

Her full name is Lyca Jane Gairanod, 9 years old, residing in Amaya, Tanza Cavite, Philippines. Her father is a fisherman and her mother is a housewife taking care of her siblings.

She likes to do the laundry because she doesn’t want her siblings to wear dirty clothes and so no one can bully them saying that they are not taking a bath.

After performing her blind audition song which was the Aegis’ legendary ‘Halik’, Lyca from Team Sarah gathered all the attention around the world.

She went on a battle performance with her second song “Dance With My Father” Tagalog version.

When she managed to advance in semi-finals, she performed another OPM classic song “Pangarap Na Bituin”.

The Voice Kids Grand Finale was a stiff competition between Team Sarah’s Darren Espanto and Lyca Gairanod, Team Bamboo’s Juan Karlos Labajo and Team Lea’s Darlene Vibares.
