A United Arab Emirates court on Sunday sentenced a Pakistani clerk to six months in jail for secretly filming a Pinay workmate while she’s using the washroom last March.
The Pakistani clerk, 29, identified only by his initials M.A. used a phone hidden in a box of tissues to record videos of workmates using the toilet, UAE news site Gulf news reported Sunday evening.
In its decision, the Dubai Court of First Instance said the clerk was guilty of molesting his colleagues and breaching their modesty.
Presiding Judge Mohammad Jamal ordered the clerk deported once he completes serving his jail term. The clerk pleaded guilty to the charges.
Sunday’s ruling is subject to appeal within 15 days.
Earlier, prosecutors said the clerk programmed his mobile phone to record videos of his colleagues using the washroom.
A Syrian engineer discovered the hidden phone and told his boss immediately.
“When confronted, the clerk alleged that he fixed the phone in the washroom to film women and particularly a Filipina secretary,” the engineer said.
A police corporal added the clerk admitted secretly filming his colleagues for four months “for his personal pleasure.”
The Gulf News report quoted the clerk as admitting to prosecutors that his targets were two women—an Arab and a Filipina—but added he would delete the videos after watching them.
