Jan 20: “The New Kuwait Philippines International School (NKPIS) is not closing down and we assure all parents and students that enrolment for academic year 2015-2016 will go on as usual,” announced Osama Karam, the school’s legal officer during a general meeting on Tuesday at the school’s premises in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh after news broke out about the school’s closure as announced by the Ministry of Education — Private and Qualitative Education Sector that was published recently in one of the local dailies. During the general meeting, Karam contested the MoE’s announcement that has ordered the NKPIS to vacate its current location in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh in accordance with ministerial decision no 210/2008 issued on 29/5/2008.

The MoE further stated that the decision includes the evacuation of the NKPIS that exploits part of the governmental premises “Hassan Bin Thabit Kindergarten” through administrative means and it is judicially approved under the court order issued on 4/4/2012 in the appeal for Cassation No 313.2010/Administrative 10.

The Ministry’s announcement outlined that the last day for the students at NKPIS will be on March 31, 2015 and students will not be allowed to enroll for the new academic year which is set to start on April 4, 2015
