Filipina in Kuwait Cries To Be Rescued After Suffering From Maltreatment

Another Filipino in the Middle East asked to be rescued after experiencing maltreatment by her employer.

According to GMA News, the Filipina was identified only as ‘Lea’ who worked in Kuwait as a domestic worker. Lea said that the physical abuse started when she refused to agree to her employer’s demand to confiscate her mobile phone. She was even held in the neck by her employer when he saw Lea talking to her children.

“Ginanoon ako ng amo ko, tatlong beses ‘yun kasi ayaw kong ibigay ‘yung telepono,” Lea said while demonstrating how her employer abused her.

According to Lea, she was sold by her original employer to her current employer. Lea couldn’t return to the Philippines because she lacks money.

Her previous employer also didn’t pay the necessary fees so she can freely return to the Philippines. Aside from that, Lea is also supporting her child in the Philippines and she also needs money to buy medicine for herself.

“Hindi nga po namin pinapaalam sa magulang ko kasi ang nanay ko baka mag-alala na naman sa… Gusto ko lang po talagang makauwi… yung mga anak ko nagpipilit umuwi ka na mama kahit wala kang ipon,” says Lea.

GMA News reached out for help from authorities to rescue the OFW. And just recently, it was confirmed that Lea was rescued and is now in a safe place.
