In a move that is set to boost tourism and strengthen regional ties, Kuwait has announced that expatriate residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are now eligible to obtain tourist visas upon arrival.
Under the new policy, expatriates holding valid residency permits in any GCC member state including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman — can enter Kuwait as tourists without the need for prior visa arrangements. Travelers will simply need to present their valid GCC residency permit and passport at the port of entry to receive their visa.
This initiative is expected to make travel between GCC states more seamless, encouraging short visits for leisure, family gatherings, and business opportunities. The policy also aligns with Kuwait’s broader efforts to promote itself as a regional tourism destination, offering visitors access to its cultural attractions, vibrant souqs, seaside promenades, and modern hospitality facilities.
Authorities have emphasized that visitors must ensure their GCC residency and passport are valid for at least six months upon entry. The duration and terms of the tourist visa will be subject to the regulations set by Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior.
With this development, GCC expatriates now have greater flexibility to explore Kuwait, further strengthening people-to-people connections across the Gulf region.
