DMW Rescues OFWs Recruited By Chinese Mafia and Forced To Work As Scammers

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is eyeing the case of several Filipinos who were supposed to work as call center agents but ended up as scammers.

In a public briefing, DMW Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac said that the DMW Secretary already ordered to help those OFWs.

In the privileged speech of Hontiveros, the senator said that the 12 OFWs who ended up working as scammers and were abdicated by the Chinese syndicate in Myanmar were successfully rescued.

According to one victim, they were recruited as customer service representatives or data encoders and offered a job in Thailand.

The Chinese mafia then took the OFWs to Myanmar and taught them how to scam foreigners on cryptocurrency.

According to Cacdac, the DMW and DFA have joined forces to help those victims under the same circumstances.
