Kuwait Launches Aggressive Crackdown on Illegal Immigrants, Targeting Even Remote Areas

Police authorities in Kuwait are cracking down on illegal immigrants by raiding even the most secluded areas like farms, desert, pens and other abandoned areas.

According to a source:“Violators of the residency law will be cornered, and inspection campaigns will not stop to arrest and deport them. The Ministry of Interior will not allow the presence of such violators on Kuwaiti soil”, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Meanwhile, in a statement during the press con, the source said:

“The train of security campaigns has started and will not stop. It will not exclude a site from inspection, as there is no place for residency violators in Kuwait, which will include even raiding the farms, pens, desert, and abandoned areas. A three-pronged plan was drawn up to corner residency violators, based on implementing impromptu campaigns, monitoring marginal workers, and sorting out specialized security teams to catch those who are in hiding. In this way, Kuwait will be without residency violators within two years.”

The source emphasized that in order to clean up the labor market and expel those who break the law, First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al- Khaled’s directives underlined the importance of pursuing residency and informal workers round-the-clock.

He declared that there would be zero tolerance for individuals who break the law and that security efforts against illegal residents and marginal workers will continue across the nation on a larger scale and using a different strategy than in past years.

The source added that:

“We are serious about working to fight residency violators and illegal workers without tolerance. We will not allow them to work in light of their lack of respect for the laws. At the same time, we welcome those who want to change their status and who meet the legal conditions. The security departments will deal with whoever approaches them with all respect.”

“The security campaigns that were carried out in most areas of the country during the last period represented an implementation of the security plan that was drawn up, as a security cordon was imposed on those areas to monitor all violators of the residency law, and to monitor marginal workers and those who were reported as absconding,” the source added.

How The Checking Was Done

The developed security plan depended on dispersing security teams over the entire nation to examine individuals’ identification documents in markets and stores. These campaigns to round up all offenders will continue to be conducted everywhere.

The source confirmed that the plan to change the demographic composition and give Kuwaitization the highest priority would be implemented in continuous coordination with the relevant state authorities, along with the security plan to rid the nation of the phenomena of visa-trade and arbitrary labor, and announced the closure of hundreds of false businesses and the punishment of their owners over the previous time period.

He talked about making the deportation process easier for people who turn themselves in to the Ministry of Interior since they will be sent back to their home country in four days after the process is finished.

“The security campaign plan depends on the elements of surprise, firmness, and speed of action to pursue violators, after extensive closures of the area being raided”, says the source.

The said plan has resulted to the immediate arrest of marginal workers as well as other violators. Their escape plan has also been busted thanks to this well-thought plan.
