20 Remains of Filipino OFWs from Kuwait Arrive in the Philippines

The remains of twenty (20) Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Kuwait arrived in the Philippines early morning on April 15, 2026.

The arrival of the OFWs’ remains was met with grief and sorrow as their families gathered at the airport to receive their loved ones. The emotional homecoming marked a painful moment for the bereaved, as they finally brought home those who had worked abroad in search of a better life.

Officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) extended their condolences and support to the grieving families. Among those present were DMW Undersecretary Felicitas Q. Bay, Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay, and other representatives from both agencies, who assured the families of continued assistance.

A pastor and a priest led a blessing ceremony for the remains before they were formally handed over to their respective families. The short religious rite served as a final tribute and prayer for the departed.

Meanwhile, the families of the deceased appealed to the public and the media for understanding and respect, requesting privacy as they mourn their loss. They emphasized the need for space and dignity during this difficult time.

Government agencies continue to coordinate efforts to ensure that all necessary support, documentation, and assistance are provided to the affected families.

The incident once again highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and welfare of Filipino workers abroad, particularly in the Middle East, and strengthens calls for better protection and support for OFWs worldwide.
