Think Twice Before Working in Kuwait-Domestic Helper

OWWA Administrator raises advice among Filipinos wanting to work in Kuwait – think twice. This is due to the fact that another Filipina lost her life in the hands of her employers despite the memorandum of understanding to care for the welfare of Filipino workers in Kuwait.

Tingnan maiging kontrata,” he added.

Partial deployment ban had been taken effect following the unfortunate incident of JeanelynVillavende. This partial ban will be implemented by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

According to the OWWA chief, there are about 10,000 to 20,000 first-time domestic helpers from the Philippines who provide household services to Kuwaiti employers each year.

However, a limit to the deployment of Filipino was made recently over the incident involving a Filipino domestic helper who allegedly suffered in the hands of her employers. The employers of Villavende are already under investigation and the Philippines is expecting to attain justice as soon as possible.

The family of Villavende in South Cotabato will receive financial support from the government.
