Philippine Embassy’s Shelter House in Kuwait Closed

As a step towards resolving the crisis of Filipino workers in Kuwait, informed sources told Al-Qabas daily that the Philippine embassy’s shelter housing runaway domestic workers have been evacuated in cooperation and coordination between the Philippine embassy, the Public Authority for Manpower workforce and the residency affairs investigation department of the Ministry of Interior, reports Al- Qabas daily.

The sources said about 415 OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) were in the shelter affiliated to the Philippine embassy, and they were all transferred to the shelter belonging to PAM and will transfer 285 to the deportation center in 3 batches, who will then be deported to their country in less than 48 hours. Furthermore, it has been discovered that 130 workers have criminal cases registered against them.

The sources added that the deportation prison has been on high alert in preparation for receiving the first batch of the Filipinos, saying after carrying out all procedures, including examining and photographing them, and ending all other legal procedures they will be deported.
